Cuarto de
Lúa
The charm of the traditional Galician house with the most modern amenities
This room, as Cuarto de Sol, is part of the old attic of the house, formerly used as storage.
This room below the roof has two single beds, which can be placed together or separately.
It has a low-level window and a velúx on the roof.
The en-suite bathroom features a bath and also has a velux window on the ceiling.
It is a very cozy creamy room with a lot of charm thanks to its sloping ceiling almost runs to the floor.
These attic rooms occupy a space in the house never used as bedrooms. In old houses attics were typically used for storage in, one side would serve as a barn for the harvest; potatoes, onions and other crops and the other side would serve as shed for trunks, baskets and old furniture piled up. This was always a dark space, with no electricity, we discovered great treasures when we restored the house in 1999, the carved cherry headboards that are now in Cuarto de Madriña and Tío Cura and the forged iron ben in Cuarto da Avoa were found here among a lot of clutter. Also a basket full of very old books that belonged to my grandmother’s great-uncle the priest, currently displayed in the hall cabinet, with a small note book with my great-grandfather’s accounts. And the most valuable piece we have at home, a unique commode, so elegant and discreet that it is difficult to realize what its use was, displayed now in the living room.
