The Castro de Baroña
The area is home to one of the most spectacular hillforts in Galicia, the Castro de Baroña, just half an hour from the house: an Iron Age fortified settlement on a sea-battered headland.
Walking its walls and circular stone houses, with the Atlantic breaking on both sides, is a glimpse into life more than two thousand years ago.
Petroglyphs, dolmens and ranges
Round out the route with the petroglyphs of Porto do Son and the Barbanza range, dotted with rock carvings and viewpoints over the ría.
Further north await the Dombate Dolmen, one of the great megaliths of Galicia, and the Cova da Bruxa in Muros: a millennia-old past carved in stone.
